WHAT TO WEAR WITH A CREAM COAT in WINTER
It’s not often anymore that I get to wear a full winter look- I’m talking hat, scarf, wool coat, gloves, ya know, the works. So when I got this Brochu Walker cream coat right before we headed back east last week I was so excited knowing that I would get to style it in it’s full winter glory. Granted I was probably a few layers short for it to truly be considered full winter glory, but we’ll take what we can get, right?!
Also please note this rare sighting of me in New York NOT wearing all black. I mean, who even am I?!
Anyways, I digress from this cream coat. Which is what we’re all really here for anyways. So, below, I’m diving into a few more details on this outfit and ideas for what to wear with a cream coat for winter.

PAIR IT OTHER NEUTRAL COLORS
I took my cream coat and turned it into a whole neutral outfit moment (as one does) by pairing it with pieces in coordinating neutral colors. Nothing is too matchy matchy and yet every piece works to create a cohesive neutral canvas with the coat as the focal point. The key takeaway being- make your cream coat the centerpiece then work out from there. Stick within a range of shades but also don’t be afraid if things don’t match, and also don’t be afraid to throw in a few neutrals from the other end of the color spectrum (i.e. my black bag and black boots).
MAKE IT A MONOCHROMATIC MOMENT
Of course, you can’t ever go wrong with a full monochromatic outfit moment. It just instantly looks timeless, classic, chic and elevated, but especially when that outfit is cream colored and anchored by a cream colored coat. The shades of cream don’t have to match exactly, but you do want to keep them as similar as possible for this outfit to work best.
GO BOLD WITH A POP OF COLOR
You know I’m a neutrals girly through and through, but you could, of course, also go the complete opposite direction and use the cream coat as a neutral base for a fun pop of color, be it through your scarf, bag, shoes or maybe even you pants.
ADD SOME TEXTURE
The perfect way to jazz up a cream coat outfit and keep it from looking too boring is to incorporate different textures. For example, I’m wearing leather accessories, a woven bag, bold gold earrings and rings, a smooth cashmere scarf and a textured beanie. If you’re not sure where to start, I suggest your accessories. It’s easy and practically foolproof and can be as simple as just swapping out one thing, like adding a big fluffy scarf or a bold bag, to make a big impact.
