Month Ahead // September 2025

A TASTE OF THE MONTH AHEAD
EDITORโS NOTE
After an unplanned summer hiatus, Iโm happy to be back writing my monthly check-in posts. And just in time to kick off one of my favorite months, no less.
Iโd like to say that Iโm ready to jump right into fall, but the truth is, I donโt even know where summer went. In fact, in a lot of ways it feels like summer just started, or at least it does here in Los Angeles. Which feels like as good a time as any for a friendly PSA that fall doesnโt technically officially start until September 22nd. So if you donโt have all the pumpkin things ready to go and you arenโt quite ready to trade in your swimsuits for sweaters (because same), this is your reminder that you are ok. You are not behind. Everyone else is just seasonally ahead. Ha! In fact, you still have a whole three weeks of summer left, so keep living your best summer life! (And donโt even get me started on the stores that already have out Christmas decorations. I just canโt.).
At the cusp of every new season, I often find myself feeling the need to wax poetic about enjoying the current season weโre in, being where your feet are planted, etc., etc. So hereโs my seasonal plea and reminder. Time moves so incredibly fast and the seasons are so fleeting. Please just let each season be what it is. Just let September be September.
I personally love September, not because itโs the start of fall, or the end of summer, but because itโs this beautiful blend of one season melting into the next. Itโs a time when the last golden rays of summer are slowly slipping into the radiant foliage of fall. Almost like the golden hour of seasons. Warm and glowing, but fading fast, gone almost before you even know it. A quiet moment that makes you pause in wonder, that pings you with nostalgia for what is slipping away in front of your eyes, but makes you grateful for what youโve gotten to experience (summer) and excited for whatโs ahead (fall). The turning of a new leaf. A pause, a time to take a breath, take stock, re-center if need be, before diving headlong into, generally, what is one of the busiest times of year.
Thatโs what September is to me. The special quiet kind of magic of a golden hour sunset. And why would anyone ever want to rush that? Because rushing is exactly how the magic gets lost.
Iโm sure next month, when itโs finally actually fall, Iโll then have to remind you to enjoy fall as everyone will have moved onto Christmas chatter at that point. But in a world that canโt resist any chance to be where theyโre not, I dare you to buck the trend and to be present. If you can drown out the chaos and noise, I promise you there is so much beauty and peace in slowing down and being present in a world that is becoming ever faster, ever more manufactured and ever more run by A.I.
Hereโs to savoring sweet September and all the magic that it has to offer.

My SEPTEMBER BOARD on Pinterest is an ode to the last golden rays of summer as they slowly slip into the amber foliage of fall and a new season ahead
WHAT IโM COOKING //
As I mentioned above, summer isnโt over just yet, and, in fact, some produce is truly at itโs peak in September, so before immersing yourself fully into the world of all things apple, squash and pumpkin spice, hereโs a few recommendations for end of summer-
TOMATO PIE: Because peak tomato season is actually in September, thereโs no better time to make this delicious and decadent pie
CARDAMOM PLUM FRIAND: Plums are also heading into their peak and this is the perfect seasonal transition dessert, something thatโs light but also warm and toasty, perfect golden days or cozy afternoons with a cup of tea
HAMACHI CRUDO WITH PLUMS: Another favorite for peak plum season; itโs light, bright and fresh and so delicious
FIG, PROSCIUTTO + RICOTTA PIZZA: The perfect pizza for enjoying fig season
WHAT IโM SIPPING ON //
Joie de Vivre, a Cinsault, Mourvรจdre and Muscat blend collab between Jumbo Time Wines and our local natural wine shop, Vins on Rose, thatโs somewhere between a rosรฉ and orange and absolutely delicious for this in-between summer and fall season.
