Oversized Blazer + Birkenstock Clogs Outfit
Oversized Blazer + Birkenstocks Clogs Outfit
Let me tell you. Oversized Blazer + Birkenstocks Clogs is it. The pairing of the season.
I haven’t put together many outfits yet for fall (because it’s basically still summer in LA), but this one in today’s post is already a strong contender as a favorite for the season.
It involves all my favorite things at the moment- vintage Levis, Birkenstock Boston Clogs, an oversized blazer (100% cashmere, also vintage), fall layers and my favorite crossbody belt bag (that’s now available in this beautiful rich chocolate-y brown color).
Sharing some styling notes and more details on this outfit below.
A FEW STYLE NOTES
HOW TO STYLE BIRKENSTOCK CLOGS FOR FALL- It took me the longest time to get into Birkenstock clogs. Like I straight up resisted them for forever. And now here I am, basically incapable of wearing anything else at this point. They pair well with just about anything but currently, for fall, I’m loving them with relaxed fit jeans (vintage Levi’s are especially perfect) and oversized trousers. Keep it simple up top with a t-shirt or crewneck sweatshirt or oversized crewneck sweater, or dress them up a bit by pairing the outfit with a blazer and some chunkier jewelry (like the chunky gold hoops I have on here). For more casual fall styling, I’ve been pairing them with a matching sweatsuit set or biker shorts and an oversized sweatshirt, both perfect for morning coffee runs, neighborhood strolls and errand running.
LAYERING OVERSIZED PIECES- I’m all about the oversized pieces, but, if worn incorrectly, it can look like a little bit of a sloppy mess, kind of like you almost just threw a sack on and went with it. A few tips to help- keep at least one element that isn’t oversized. So for example, in this outfit, I made sure the t-shirt I wore underneath was more form fitting. Then add in additional layers to create dimension and texture. With this outfit I achieved that by adding the sweater and crossbody bag. Belts, chunky necklaces, etc. are a great way to create dimension, as well. Last but not least, add in some pull-together details. What I mean by that is, pull your hair back in a low bun or a nice hair clip, add chunkier jewelry, throw on a watch, choose your sunglasses with intention, things like that.
TIPS FOR FINDING VINTAGE LEVIS + BOYFRIEND BLAZERS- I’ve been getting asked about this a lot and here’s my number 1 biggest tip- shop the men’s section of the thrift store. Seriously. Everything is perfectly oversized and usually far less picked over than the women’s section. A few other tips- shop often as stores are getting new items every day, and always go up several sizes (yup, even in the men’s section).
THE NEW DESTA BELT BAG- One of my favorite Parker Clay bags, that I wear all the time, just came out in this new dark brown shade that’s absolutely gorgeous and is especially perfect for fall outfits! And better yet, you can snag it for 15% off when you use my code PC-ALYSSA15.
