A TASTE OF THE MONTH AHEAD
March Reflections, A Fresh Start & The Feeling of Spring
EDITOR’S NOTE
Spring is officially in the air.
Well… in Los Angeles, summer might already be knocking, and in New York, winter is still holding on tight. But in theory? Spring is here.
March has always felt like a threshold. It’s one of my favorite months, not just because it happens to be my birthday month, but because it carries that soft, in-between magic. The quiet pause between winter’s stillness and spring’s awakening. The light begins to stretch a little longer each evening. Flowers start to unfurl. Gardens get greener and berries get sweeter. Birds get braver with their morning songs. The air shifts. Simple pleasures abound. Everything feels hopeful. Joyful. Lighter. Brighter.
A New Season, A New Home, A New Beginning
It feels especially fitting that I’m writing this month’s Month Ahead from our new home in our new town, Ojai.
This move feels aligned with the season: shedding what no longer serves, stepping into something new, allowing space for healing and growth.
I’ve shared bits and pieces over the past few years, but our previous house was a chapter marked by hardship- break-ins, mold, and more than I ever expected to navigate under one roof. It was a season that left me depleted in ways I didn’t fully understand until I was out of it.
I didn’t feel like myself. I didn’t look like myself. I wasn’t living. I was surviving.
And while I don’t want to dwell there, I also don’t want to gloss over how deeply it impacted me. Chronic stress has a way of settling into your body, dimming your light without you even realizing it.
So when I tell you that leaving that house feels like exhaling after holding my breath for years, I mean it.
There’s a calm here in the countryside of Ojai. A softness. A quiet that feels restorative instead of heavy. I can feel my nervous system slowly recalibrating. I can feel creativity returning. I can feel life coming back into my body.
Relief doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Entering a New Decade
As if a new home wasn’t enough change for one month, I’m also entering a new decade next week.
I haven’t quite decided how I feel about it, decidedly less enthusiastic than I was about the move, if I’m being honest, but there’s something poetic about it happening right now.
New home. New town. New decade.
The big celebration plans have been postponed (moving has a way of doing that), but perhaps this fresh start is celebration enough. There’s something grounding about beginning a new chapter quietly, without pressure, without fanfare, just gratitude.
March Energy: Shedding & Blooming
March always carries the energy of transition. Winter begins to loosen its grip. The light returns. Things soften. What’s dormant begins to stir.
And that’s exactly how this season feels for me.
Things are shedding. New ideas are taking shape. Other parts of my life are beginning to bloom. It feels right on schedule.
If you’re in a transitional season too, whether that’s a physical move, a mindset shift, or simply a quiet internal reset, consider this your reminder: growth often begins in the in-between.
Spring is coming. The light is returning.
And sometimes, the most powerful transformations happen quietly.
Here’s to the new season ahead…

WHAT I’M SIPPING ON //
Finally tried Poppi’s Shirley Temple flavor and now I can’t get enough of it! My other hyper-fixation beverage at the moment- a strawberry protein smoothie that taste more like dessert and nothing like protein. I use fresh frozen strawberries (aka strawberries I got at the local farmstand and then sliced and froze myself), whole milk, a little Greek yogurt, and, the secret ingredient, this protein powder. I know people like to claim a protein powder doesn’t taste weird and is the best protein powder ever, but like actually….this one really is! I swear my smoothie tasted like nothing but the best strawberry milkshake ever!
