MONTH AHEAD // MARCH ’23
A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT'S COMING UP THIS MONTH
EDITOR’S NOTE //
March is my favorite month. And not just because it’s when my birthday is. In fact, I’m not actually a big fan of my birthday and would rather skip right over it. However, I am a big fan of how winter makes way for spring, the days begin to get brighter and lighter, there’s a gentle sweetness in the air, the flowers are beginning to bloom, the birds are chirping. It’s a breath of much needed fresh air after a long, cold, dark winter. And I’m so ready for it. More notes on March below… xx
HAPPENINGS //
WHAT I’M PINNING //
Bright, light, airy, springy things on my MARCH INSPO BOARD
WHAT I’M COOKING //
The California produce never disappoints, but I always especially love the bounty available in spring. Crisp lettuces and vibrant greens have me excited for everything salads, asparagus, leeks and artichokes.
WHAT I’M WEARING //
I haven’t stopped thinking about this sweater (code Alyssa15 gets you 15% off) since I missed out on my size last year so you best believe as soon as it restocked I snagged my size as fast as my fingers could hit the “Add to Cart” button. I also picked up one of my favorite dresses in the newest colorway, hazel. I’ve also been obsessed with this skirt since I got it in December (I have it in both black and taupe). I wear it several times a week and it’s quickly become one of those closet staple pieces that you just know will always work (especially when it feels like nothing else is working).
It’s truly so comfortable and versatile and can be dressed up or down, slit in the front or the back. I’m telling you, if you make one clothing purchase this month, let it be this skirt. You won’t regret it. And friendly reminder, as with all things Jenni Kayne, you can use my code Alyssa15 to save 15% off (on-line and in stoe).
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO //
The New Boots playlist has been pumping out some jams lately and I am all about it!
WHAT I’M READING //
After not being able to get enough of Rick Rubin on different podcasts last month, Dave surprised me by ordering Rick’s new book for me and, as to be expected,I love it. Quick and easy to read a little snippet and here and there for a mood boost or whenever you need a little extra inspiration. Plus, it looks aesthetically pleasing, too, which you know I don’t hate. Ha!
I’ve also finally jumped on the Colleen Hoover train (I know, I’m a million years behind everyone else) and started reading “It Ends with Us”. I have to be honest, I didn’t fully get the hype at first. Initially, it just felt like a slow but easy read and it took me a while to get into it. But by halfway through, I finally understood the hype and haven’t been able to put the book down since. And yes, I’m already anxiously awaiting my next Colleen Hoover book.
WHAT I’M WATCHING //
We re-started The Mindy Show and while I remember it being funny, I don’t remember it being quite this funny (or maybe it just seems funnier because there is literally nothing funny on anymore). Either way, every time we watch it, it has me laughing non-stop, which is exactly what I need in my life right now.
WHERE I’M HEADED //
While I guess I predicted correctly in last month’s “Month Ahead” post because we just can’t seem to stay away from the Central Coast. We spontaneously popped up to Cambria when we saw a last minute deal for a hotel that we’ve been wanting to stay at and for the rest of the month/April, we’re also planning a trip for the Santa Ynez/Los Olivos area as well as a longer tropical stay (looking at either Mexico or Costa Rica at the moment) as well as going to visit friends and family.
