After a year and half of being in our bungalow, and perfecting plans, we’ve finally taken the step to make over our kitchen. There are still a few finishing touches, but as soon as it’s done I will be sharing all about it. But, in the meantime, here’s a little peek at one of my favorite corners so far.

Whenever we go to one of our favorite day trip escapes, Ventura, we have to make a stop here. Their coffee never disappoints and they always have such fun and unique specialty drinks. This time we grabbed a salted caramel and cardamom iced oat milk latte, and, per usual, it did not disappoint.

Yesterday, our little Bomba (who’s not-quite-so-little anymore!) had his first birthday. We celebrated by taking him for a drive up the coast to see the water, get seafood (his favorite) and with a little salmon cake (for him, not us! Ha!). So, we’re not insane at all! hahaha

When we were up the coast over the weekend, we decided to pop into a place called, Apiary. They’re brewing up some cool really things with honey, herbs, wildflowers and more in the hard cider, kombucha and mead space. I especially loved their “Peach Better Have my Honey” seasonal flavor (I mean, that name alone is amazing!) and “Drink Your Flowers” (which tastes like a lavender garden aka it tastes delicious!). If you’re in the area, highly recommend popping in for a tasting flight, a glass, picking something up, or all of the above.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that truly bring the most joy. Like pizza on the beach at sunset. It’s nothing fancy at all but wow, it’s absolutely magical and delicious and fun and honestly the best pizza experience I’ve had in a long time. Like you could probably eat gas station pizza this way and it would taste like pizza made by a Michelin starred chef. 10/10 highly recommend. (But also, if you’re doing this in Santa Barbara, like we did over the weekend, highly recommend pizza from here! It’s one of our favorites!)

  • Coffee with a side of kindness? Yes, please! This cafe, that employees foster youth, recently opened a location in LA and I can’t wait to visit! If you’re in Texas they also have several locations in Dallas!

  • Speaking of openings, one of my favorite LA-based stores for affordable home goods and kitchenwares, just opened a second location, and I’m so thrilled it’s on my side of town! If you’re in LA, or visiting the west side, highly recommend checking them out!

  • Getting the urge to grill our own oysters after our outing this past weekend, so I’ve been reading up on just how to do it. This article that I found was especially helpful, and this recipe sounds delicious!

  • Loving this series (and recipe feature) from one of our favorite local restaurants

  • This candle not only looks great but it smells heavenly and couldn’t be more perfect for summer!

  • A chic and delicious-looking book that is currently on my radar for re-creating the magic of a French meal right at home in a way that feels totally approachable
