Barbiecore // The Pink Suit

BECAUSE IF THIS PINK SUIT DOESN’T SCREAM BARBIECORE, THEN I DON’T KNOW WHAT DOES

Let me tell you. Of all the people jumping on the Barbiecore trend, I did not expect to be one of them. Heck, I haven’t even seen the movie yet (I know, I’m like one of 3 people who hasn’t).

And yet here I am rocking head-to-toe pink. I mean, that in itself is a real feat given that I barely wear any color to begin with.

Surprisingly, I’ve actually had this suit for a few years now. Trend or no trend, it’s one of my favorite things to wear. And when I opened my closet to figure out an outfit for a recent event, it was jumping out at me, just begging to be worn. It was ready to have its moment to shine. Because if there was ever an outfit to fit the Barbiecore trend, a trend focused on Barbie pink and Barbie style and sparkle and fun and bold moments, this very pink pant suit paired with metallic heels is most definitely it. It also has the line “Come on, Barbie, let’s go party” stuck in my head but that’s a different issue for a different day. For now, it’s a Barbie girl in a Barbie world moment.

While it’s definitely true that there isn’t much color in my wardrobe, let alone pink, I continue to keep this suit, not only because it fits well and is well made, but mostly because, like any good power suit should do, it makes me feel confident, fearless and unstoppable when I put it on. And that, to me, is what true Barbiecore is. The pieces, pink or otherwise, that allow us to show up as our truest, most confident, most boldest, most fun, most independent selves.
