MONTH AHEAD // OCTOBER 2024
A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT'S COMING UP THIS MONTH
EDITOR’S NOTE //
Happy October!
This month kicks off a busy season of travel and work. There are lots of things unfolding right now which I’m quite excited (and a little overwhelmed, if we’re being honest) about. First up on the travel front, we’re heading abroad for our 12th (!!!!) anniversary and a little R&D for something I’m hoping to launch next year, fingers crossed and stay tuned!
On the work front, I’m thrilled to announce an exciting launch (see pictures below) in partnership with one of my favorite brands. If you’ve been around for a bit, cooked any of my recipes, seen my Instagram, then chances are pretty high that you’ve probably seen my share one of my favorite brands, Material Kitchen. I’ve been using the brand since they launched, when we still leaved in NYC, and they’ve been a staple in my kitchen ever since. Which is why I am so unbelievably ecstatic/beside myself/honored/thrilled to share the launch of the “In Good Taste” bundle. The bundle is a curated collection of some of my favorite, and most used, Material Kitchen items- The Salt Sphere, an eye-catching piece that’s as useful as it is beautiful, The reBoard, a cutting board that is great I have at least half a dozen in my kitchen, and The Air Whisk, which is superior to all other kitchen whisks because, among other things, it’s a lightweight blend of ball and a balloon whisk and has a flat-headed shape so it can stand on its own (which, I’m telling you, is a game changer when you’re whisking). You can shop the bundle here and be sure to use code ALYSSAMATERIAL to get an additional 20% off the already specially priced bundle. With the holidays right around the corner, it’s also a great opportunity to grab a lovely gift set for anyone who loves to cook or entertain, or you know, even just gift yourself a set. I’m telling you, the salt sphere alone makes the set worth getting. Your support means the world to me and it would be an absolute honor to have my bundle in your kitchens, for you to cook and entertain with, all in good taste.

WHAT I’M COOKING //
I am wholeheartedly ready to embrace all of the warm and comforting flavors of the season. Here are a few things that I especially love making this time of year-
CREAMY PUMPKIN PASTA WITH ‘NDUJA + CRISPY SAGE- I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, this is the reigning elite pasta of the season. It’s so creamy and decadent and full of flavor and if you don’t make it, you are seriously missing out.
APPLE SPICE CAKE WITH MAPLE BROWN BUTTER BOURBON MARSCAPONE FROSTING- I mean, need I say more??!
HARVEST GRILLED CHEESE- Delicious cheesy goodness that’s packed with fall flavors and just begging to be made on a cozy fall afternoon
FALL PANZANELLA SALAD- All the flavors of fall tossed together in one delicious panzanella salad
ONE-PAN APPLE PORK CHOPS- Apple pork chops made in just one pan but with three times the apple flavor; trust me when I say you’ll never want to make any other apple pork chops again
5-INGREDIENT BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP- Creamy, comforting and so simple; an autumnal weeknight staple in our house
DELICATA SQUASH WITH JIMMY NARDELLO AGRODOLCE- An absolute banger of a side dish for any fall meal; agrodolce is essentially Italian for preparing something “sweet and sour”, which is perfect for this squash and pepper combination
GOUDA, BACON + BUTTERNUT SQUASH PIZZA- This pizza is a little smoky, a little sweet, a little salty and a whole lot of perfect for fall Friday nights!
ROASTED GRAPES WITH BURRATA- Easy, delicious and so beautiful; perfect for entertaining or as a light lunch paired with a simple green salad
APPLE CIDER DONUTS- A seasonal staple that need to be made at least once every fall
WHAT I’M LOVING //
Ok, I know I already waxed a whole lot of poetic about my “In Good Taste” bundle and obviously I’m biased because it, well, its my bundle, but I just can’t help it. I absolutely love it and I will not stop talking about it anytime soon, thank you very much.
Barn jackets are having a major moment right now and I’m here for it. Of course it’s making me deeply regret the perfect ones I left behind in a vintage shop in Wellington when we were in new Zealand earlier this year, but I’ve also been wanting a vintage L.L.Bean one for a while now and I finally just snagged one on Poshmark. eBay also has so many options (just search things like “barn jacket”, “chore jacket”, “vintage barn jacket” and brands like Lands End, L.L.bean, Eddie Bauer, Orvis), highly recommend scouring resale sights and vintage stores (even your partner/dad/grandfather’s closet) to find one if you’re in the market, but if you can’t find one secondhand, this one is a really great new option.
In my mission to get more protein into my diet, I discovered bone broth hot chocolate, and more specifically bone broth hot chocolate made with Paleovalley Chocolate Bone Broth Protein. I know it sounds strange (trust me, I thought so, too when I first heard about), but hear me out. It actually tastes like rich and creamy hot chocolate with like a hint of chai. In other words, it’s a dream. I mix it in my coffee every morning, along with whole milk, for a super decadent mocha, and I’ll mix it with milk for a hot chocolate dessert if I’m craving something sweet in the evening (because when am I not?!). The best part about this particular brand is that it’s made with grass-fed, grass-finished cows, no fillers and no nasty, unwanted ingredients. Just clean and delicious and packed with protein!
This is the best sweat set of all time and I stand by that. So obviously when I saw it come out in this color (sweatshirt, sweatpants) and this color (sweatshirt, sweatpants) you know I had to snag it (especially since this one is on sale for under $60 for the set).
These boots were made for walking…no but actually, this brand genuinely makes the most comfortable heels that you can actually walk in so if you’re in the market for a new pair of black boots for fall/winter, click “Add to cart” on these beauties asap.
Cooler temps are making me want to switch to darker, moodier bedding and this set that just launched is definitely calling to me. The color is just chef’s kiss!
I’ve mentioned these headphones before because I love them so much but with travel on my mind I thought they were worth another mention, especially since they’re currently on major sale! They’re so great for working, working out, traveling and everything in between. And since we’re quickly coming up on gifting season, they would also make a great gift for yourself or someone else.
I’m on my third jar of these beef liver pills and I’ve seen such a drastic change in everything from my energy levels to my skin. I don’t talk about supplements all that much (because I’m obviously not an expert) but if you’re in the market for a beef liver pill I highly recommend seeing if these are the right fit for you.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO //
Loving “You’d Think I Was a Cowboy” by Dylan Scott, “Weren’t for the Wind” by Ella Langley , “Whirlwind” by Lainey Wilson (ok, but really anything by Lainey Wilson right now) and absolutely can’t get enough of “To the Moon” by the OG country swooner himself George Straight
