FAVORITE YOUTUBE WORKOUTS // EDITION 3.0
I am embarrassed to admiT
that this post has been in my drafts since May, which feels like it was both yesterday and also a completely different lifetime ago. A lot has happened between now and then, and somehow, in the midst of everything, a workout post just felt, ya know, kind of out-of-touch. But, I guess I must be inspired by all of the hiking we did in Joshua Tree last week, and the fact that I started Melissa Wood Health’s Challenge on Monday, because I finally felt inspired to take this post from draft to done.
What initially inspired another round of my favorite Youtube workout videos was actually a few responses I had gotten to a photo I had posted on my Instagram stories where I was wearing workout clothes, but, surprisingly, not because I had just worked out. Rather, I was making fun of myself for wearing workout clothes all day, even though I hadn’t lifted a weight or done one single bit of movement. Yet, much to my surprise {truly, because I feel like all’s I’ve done is eat recently}, I got a few responses asking what workouts I had been doing recently. Umm, I mean, I lift a wine glass to my mouth…that counts, right??! I kid, I kid…
With my workouts I’m normally of the mindset that “if you aren’t dripping, it doesn’t count”, but lately I’ve been focused a lot more on gentler, simpler, more joyful movements. After all, there’s enough stress in the world right now without adding stressful workouts into the mix. Here are a few of the videos that I’ve been loving and doing on repeat lately-
A longer no-equipment-needed full body barre workout that’s the perfect mix of toning and cardio
Anything and everything from Move with Nicole’s channel
Yoga for gut health + this pilates/cardio workout mix that’s also aimed at helping the gut (because all of this year’s stress has been taking a major toll on my gut)
This killer dance-inspired arm workout (My arms are on fire after this one, and I barely even use weights!)
A lower body focused dance/barre workout that is deceptively challenging and will leave your legs and butt burning
A super chill yoga workout for when you want some movement but also want to keep it easy and calm
