When the Clock Strikes Midnight NYE Cocktail Recipe
If you read yesterday's post then you know Mr. RC and I like to go all out to celebrate New Year's Eve (read: we usually end up spending the evening sitting on the couch). Whether you're going out or staying in, cocktails, specifically anything containing a little bubbly, are oh-so-necessary. This drink is fancy enough to make a pajama situation glam, and, if you happen to be doing some glam, then it's fancy enough to be the perfect accessory. Basically, you can't fail at ringing in 2016 with this concoction!
P.S. You can find the link to the Owl's Brew cocktail mixer that we used in this post!

INGREDIENTS
- 1 ounce Gin
- 1 ounce Elderflower Liqueur (I use St. Germain)
- 1 ounce of Owl's Brew Pink & Black*
- 1 Hibiscus Flower (the kind that come in syrup)
- Rose champagne or bubbly
- 1 lemon, cut in half
- Sugar, edible glitter, gold or silver glitter, etc for rimming the glass
INSTRUCTIONS
First, you'll want to make your glasses look fancy. Spread the sugar (or whatever sparkly thing you're using for the rim) onto a large, flat plate. Take one of the lemon halves and rub it along the rim of a martini glass. Then, dip the rim into the sugar and gently twirl it around a few times to coat it. Set aside.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Then, pour in the gin, elderflower liqueur, Owl's Brew and shake.
In the bottom of the martini glass, place a hibiscus flower. Pour the cocktail mix over it, then top off with bubbly and serve immediately.
NOTES
You could also use a juice, like a blood orange juice or a strawberry-lemonade, in place of the Owl's Brew.
