best of winter candles

‘Tis the season…

…to keep a holiday candle lit at all times (ok, well maybe not while you’re sleeping, but you know what I mean). Here are a few of my festive favorites that I’ve been burning this month…

P.S. THESE WOULD ALL MAKE GREAT GIFTS, YA KNOW, IF YOU’RE STILL LOOKING FOR HOLIDAY GIFT IDEAS!

JENNI KAYNE

TOPANGA, CEDAR, ASH, MUSK

While Jenni’s candles our a favorite of mine year-around, there are a few in particular that are especially wonderful this time of year. The scents are just super cozy and are a perfect way to fill a room with warmth and cheer. They also make wonderful gifts (tbh, one of my favorite gifts to give and I usually keep a few extras on hand for birthday, host, last minute, etc. gifting). They also sell a set of minis which is another lovely gifting option, or a great way for you to experience all of the yummy seasonal scents without committing to full-sized candles. *Use my code ALYSSA15 to get 15% off any JK candles.

Maison Margiela

BY THE FIREPLACE

The name of this candle isn’t a life. You truly smell like you are sitting by a fireplace when you burn it, which is especially clutch for those of us who don’t have a fireplace (but which we did).

Limestone +Cedar Co. Palmetto Forest Candle

LIMESTONE + CEDAR CO.

PALMETTO FOREST

The prettiest pine scent with just a tinge of seasonal sweetness; I truly can’t get enough of this candle! And, as I’ve mentioned before, l love that she uses recycled beer bottles with recycled cork tops for her candles. Just an all around winner!

Linnea's LightsForest Fir Candle

LINNEA’S LIGHTS

FOREST FIR

Another beautiful pine scented candle, this one with a bit more woodsy, smoky backdrop versus a sweeter pine scent. It’s super subtle and perfect for an all day burning sesh, or those who don’t like an overpowering or overly sweet scent. Love, love, love!

satya and sage candles

SATYA + SAGE

BLESSED + GODDESS

Neither of these are traditional holiday and/or winter candles, but I wanted to include them because I personally find some of the notes to be very seasonal. In “Blessed” it’s the fresh eucalyptus scent that makes me think of the eucalyptus I use in my holiday decor and the rosemary note that reminds me of the fresh rosemary that I use in so much of my holiday cooking. And the “Goddess” candle has blood orange notes reminding me of my favorite fruit to eat this time of year. That, in addition to the vanilla, also makes me think of all the baking that’s usually happening throughout this festive season.

Leather + Embers Crackling wood wick candle

THRESHHOLD

LEATHER + EMBERS

This one makes me think of a fire burning in a fireplace on Christmas day while everyone is cozy and gathered around the tree, or maybe the fire burning in a ski cabin tucked away in snow-covered mountains somewhere. I also love that this particular line of candles has crackling wood wicks. Don’t get too excited…it doesn’t sound anything like a real fire, but for those of us who don’t have fireplaces, it’s nice to have some sort of crackling noise. Sandalwood + Smoke, Fennel + Pine and Fir + Suede are also great options.

beeswax pillar candles

HEARTH & HAND

BEESWAX PILLAR CANDLES (similar option)

While the exact beeswax pillar candles that I have are no longer available, I wanted to keep them on this list as I think beeswax candles make a great addition to holiday decorations, tablescapes and/or centerpieces.
