MONTH AHEAD // MARCH 2022
MONTH AHEAD // MARCH 2022
A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT'S COMING UP THIS MONTH
EDITOR’S NOTE //
I’m always extra excited when March rolls around. And not just because it’s my birthday month. I swear!
Everything just starts to feel lighter, brighter, fresher. You can tell the winter layers are beginning to shed away and spring is most definitely on its way.
But, of course, that isn’t quite the case with the start of this March. Things are feeling pretty somber and heavy. Nothing like being rewarded for surviving a pandemic with the start of world war, right?!
I’m sure, like many of you, anxiety and stress is at an all time high, sleep is a struggle, attempting to do most anything feels a bit absurd and pointless, and I feel guilty for even going about normal life while other’s are fighting for theirs.
I’m doing my best to focus on what I can control, leaning heavily into spreading peace, joy and love in all the ways I am able, donating and getting involved to help however I can (see more below), spreading around and savoring little joys, focusing on my mental well-being with some extra self-care and time spent mediating and in prayer, trying to keep my space light and bright with flowers, candles, relaxing music and making sure it’s clean and tidy, and being extra grateful for so many of the things I tend to take for granted. Additionally, tomorrow is the start of Lent and, besides giving up tv, I’ve decided I will also being doing 40 acts of kindness, one for every day of Lent. Not that it needs to be 40, or having anything to do with Lent, or being Catholic, anyone can do acts of kindness, anywhere, anytime, but it sure feels like the world can use some extra love and kindness right now, so that’s what I’m challenging myself to do.
Hope you’re finding some ways to spread love, kindness and light to yourself, and others, in these dark and difficult times.
xx

HAPPENINGS //
WHERE TO DONATE FOR UKRAINE //
Like I’m sure many of you, I want to be involved to help Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in any way I can. It can definitely get a little overwhelming sorting through all the places to donate, making sure which ones are legit, which ones gives 100% to the cause and then add in the ever-changing situation where maybe access to things gets cut off, currency changes, etc. I also like to remember that many of these efforts will need to be sustained for quite some time, so, while everyone rushes to donate immediately (which is great), don’t forget to continue the support down the road, even when something may no longer be trending. All that being said, here are some places I’ve donated/will be donating/think are worth donating to:
world central kitchen (providing meals at the border to those fleeing Ukraine)
IFAW (providing aid for animals + animal shelters)
Sunflower of Peace (providing first-aid + humanitarian support)
Razom (providing critical medical supplies)
Fight for Right (supporting Ukrainians with disabilities)
*will continue to update this list if/when I find additional places to help/donate to
WHAT I’M PINNING //
channeling brighter days through flowers, spring style, self care inspo, pretty pictures and, of course, a birthday cake (or two!) in my MARCH INSPO BOARD
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO //
this to relax, this for chill vibes, this falling asleep and this for when I really need to GSD
WHAT I’M READING //
after hearing so many people talk and rave about "The Artist’s Way”, I finally got a copy for myself. excited to be diving into it and working my way through it this month!
WHAT I’M COOKING //
baking is my therapy so there’s definitely been a lot of that happening this past week. besides that, I always get so inspired with the farmer’s market this time of year so I’m super excited to make all sorts of fresh market goods, things like beautiful salads, fresh crudites and more. I’ve also been loving making curry bowls, with either tofu or salmon, veggies and black pearl rice, extra sauce and fresh herbs on top, always.
WHAT I'M WORKING ON //
I mentioned this above but we’re giving up tv for lent, so I’m currently working on 40 acts of kindness and getting back into the habit of hobbies- painting, reading more, learning another language, giving back, gardening, spending time in the yard, hiking, journaling, cooking new-to-me dishes, spending more time catching up with loved ones and friends, organizing and cleaning out the house and maybe, just maybe, finishing up some of those never-ending home projects.
WHERE I’M HEADED //
working on planning some trips near and far, for now and later. It’s our 10 year anniversary later this year so we’re planning something big, but I’m also trying to solidify some plans for a few other fun adventures, including something for my birthday! Stay tuned to see where we end up…
