How To Wear A Dress With Jeans
Gap Trench Coat // Zara Dress // Old Navy Jeans // Vintage Belt // Chanel Bag // Nine West Shoes
When I first saw a few people wearing a dress with jeans, I'm not even going to kid you, I thought it was a bit odd. It seemed too "out there" for me and a look that I would never be able to achieve....well, at least without looking like one fashionable fool. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I've put myself on a bit of a closet spending freeze at the worst possible time- while the seasons are in transition. So instead of saying I have nothing to wear for probably the bazillionth time, I decided to do a little closet matchmaking with my dresses and jeans. And you know what? They totally fell in love (or as much love as jeans and dresses can possibly fall). Here are a few tricks on how to wear a dress with jeans:
Go for Height// I found that the dress and jeans look worked best with heels. Wearing flats made the whole outfit look too bulky.
Layer in Varying Lengths // For this look, dresses with a bit shorter of a hem work the best. Compliment the short dress with a long coat or sweater. The contrast in length will help to keep the whole outfit streamlined.
Cinch It In// The dress with jeans look is not good with flowey dresses. You'll want a dress that has structure and form. However, if you absolutely must use a flowey dress, I recommend cinching it in at the waist with a chunky belt. And if the dress isn't flowey, well, still use a belt to break the look up.
Have you ever tried wearing a dress with jeans?
P.S. We snapped these photos on a super windy day so the slight blur of the dress is not your eyes going bad....just the wind ;)
