Backyard Inspo // Relaxed Mediterranean Vibes
When we moved into our new house,
one of the things we were most excited about was the outdoor space. It was a big blank space, which meant we would be able to transform it into whatever we wanted. Naturally, Dave took that to mean a basketball court, and naturally, I shot that idea down faster than it came up. We settled somewhere in the middle {aka I let him pick the grill haha} on relaxed Mediterranean meets Cali vibes. Think- cream colors, olive trees, neutral colors, wood, stone, natural materials.
So far we’ve cleared out overgrown weeds, laid down pea gravel in the seating area, outlined our garden area, bought plants, chairs have arrived {but one is going back due to an improperly placed arm, hence the lone chair in this picture}, received our grill and now we’re mapping out some of the furniture we’re building. And that’s just in the backyard {we also have along both sides of the house AND the front}. Who knew putting a yard together was so much work?! It almost makes me miss living in an apartment…almost.
Truthfully, at the end of the day, I’m incredibly grateful for our outdoor space and garden. Especially with the recent happenings and stay at home orders, working on the yard has certainly been a nice distraction, and having a space to be able to spend time outside is not something I take for granted. Plus, all this extra time at home has allowed us to get our yard together in a more timely manner.
I’m looking forward to sharing our full yard makeover, hopefully sooner rather than later, but in the mean time, you can check out my “Outdoor Space” Pinterest board for all my ideas, visions and inspiration for the space. And, of course, you can always follow along on Instagram for sneak peeks along the way. I may not be making it to the Mediterranean anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be bringing allllll the Med vibes to my backyard.
