Transitional Fall Outfit: Pale Blue Sweater, Jeans + Vans
It's no secret that I'm not one to easily let go of summer (Maybe a subconscious reason that led to our decision to move to LA?!). So when people say silly things like "Don't wear white after Labor Day.", I simply laugh and keep going on my merry way, wearing all the white my heart desires.
In fact, I think white pieces are perfect for a transitional fall outfit. In the early stages of the season, they help to tone down heavier pieces like sweaters, and they also lighten rich tones, like burgundy and navy, making it seem less ridiculous that you're wearing something like a wool sweater when it's still bright, sunny and 70 out.
Of course, it was far from 70 when we shot these photos on the chilly coast of Portland, Maine last week, so you better believe I appreciated having a thicker sweater on. Mr. RC joked that I looked more ready for the California coast then fall in New England, which I'll gladly take as a compliment, considering this sweater is from a California-based company. I'm sure he was probably referring more to the fact that it was because I insisted on wearing my new Vans to the beach, but I'll keep pretending it's because I look ready for our new home. Besides, let's be real, it was far too cold for sandals/the possibility of the ice cold Atlantic touching my toes, so Vans it was.
We shot another fall transitional outfit featuring a different Brochu Walker piece while we were in Maine and I can't wait to share that look with you later this week. But in the meantime, I highly recommend checking out their beautiful pieces, especially if you're looking to invest in a quality sweater for fall/winter. The pieces are well made from high quality materials (the sweater featured here is a blend of cashmere, baby alpaca and silk and is so soft I want to sleep in it) and they're a total dream for those who are particularly fond of classic, but minimal, silhouettes.
