Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

My idea of the perfect Thanksgiving outfit is anything that makes me look put together while allowing for max indulgence in all the thanksgiving day eats. Think chic, cozy and comfortable. Emphasis on comfortable. Obviously oversized anything and elastic waste bands are always a solid choice. But at the risk of looking like I just threw on a potato sack and calling it a day, I do try my best to pull something together and put some effort in (or at least make it look like I did). Monochromotic looks are great for that as are matching loungewear sets. Skip things like cinched wastes and belts and instead accessorizes outfits with fun shoes and bold jewelry. And, of course, there’s always sweatpants (But like let’s make them aesthetically pleasing and chic please! haha). Sharing more details and ideas below.

A SWEATER DRESS

This is probably my number one go-to look for Thanksgiving. It checks all the boxes of being cozy, chic and comfy. I look presentable enough to be around other people but really feel like I’m wrapped up in a big blanket, so what more could I ask for? The sleeveless sweater dress is especially a favorite of mine. It’s so flattering and so comfortable and looks perfect dressed up or down. Definitely a favorite for Thanksgiving feasting!

MONOCHROMOTIC COLORS

If you’re struggling with what to wear, go monochromatic. It’s the easiest way to look put together, elevated and chic in no time, no matter how comfy and cozy your outfit may be. And if you need your look to be a bit more dressy, just add some fun shoes and/or bold jewelry.

A FLOWY DRESS

Think a kaftan style dress, a t-shirt style dress, an a-line dress, etc. Just keep it looking chic and pulled together by layering with a sweater, wearing fun shoes and/or accessorizing with bold jewelry.

LUXE LOUNGE SET

Unless there’s a dress code that requires otherwise, I say go as casual as possible while still looking put together. Enter the luxe matching lounge set. This cashmere set from Brochu Walker is to-die for (literally one of the softest and most luxe things I own), but this top and bottom set or this top and bottom set are also great options. If you can’t find an exact matching set that you like, try a cardigan and sweatpants in similar colors and made with high end materials to achieve the same look, kind of like I did here.

A SLIP DRESS or skirt + SWEATER

If you need to be just a bit more dressed up, I love going with a slip dress and sweater combination. A silky slip dress instantly elevates the overall look, but a sweater layered on top still ensures ultimate coziness and comfortability.

OVERSIZED SWEATER + TROUSERS

I know it’s basic, but it’s a tried but true look that you can’t go with. Especially if you go with oversized trousers or a pair of silky drawstring pants (which is, in my opinion, the perfect dressy and chic meets comfy and relaxed pants option).
