WHAT'S AHEAD // AUGUST 2020

A PEEK AT WHAT'S COMING UP THIS august 2020 AT RUNWAY CHEF HQ

Editor’s Note // Hello August! It IS August, right?? I mean, I know the calendar says it is, yet somehow it still feels like March to me. And I don’t know about where you live, but here in LA, on the west side, it’s been rather gray and chilly (like in the 60’s), making it feel even less like August, let alone summertime. Perhaps this is why I’ve struggled to get up any sort of summery content? After all, it’s rather hard to talk about grilling and shorts when you’re wrapped up in layers and sweaters.

Hoping to make the most of this weird, but quickly fading, summer over this next month. Here’s hoping you can do the same.

xx

what I’m pinning //

my August Inspo board is full of bright shadowy images that speak to the fading summer light, that golden glow, the setting sun, holding on to those last moments of the season

what I’m listening to // Folklore on repeat again…and again…and again (but you probably already knew that)

what I’m reading // re-reading a favorite, Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff…the small 1-2 page chapters are great daily reads full of refreshing reminders, especially in these uncertain times

what I’m following on Instagram // on a real vintage clothing role between this account that blends vintage finds with beautiful designs as well as this account that curates the most amazing collection of vintage pieces

what I’m cooking // since it’s been a bit chilly we’ve been making soups (weird, I know), but also lots of tacos, grilled corn and thai chicken salads

what I’m drinking // heading into the white wine and spritz season of the summer; and speaking of spritzes, also been playing around with some new flavor combinations, including non-alcoholic ones, with various herbs, fruit and homemade syrups

what I’m burning // I adore tobacco-scented candles, but they’re obviously too heavy for summer, so I’ve been loving this candle (from a Black-owned business), which still has notes of tobacco but is a lighter, fresher, summery option that has been perfect for this time of year

what I’m shopping for // lots of linen pieces, that coincidentally all seem to be from Australian brands such as this one, this one and this one

what I’m doing // discovering new walking trails (because walking loops in our neighborhood is getting just a tad bit boring), planning an outdoor movie night in our backyard now that our projector has come in, actually taking time to enjoy our backyard (crazy concept, I know), exploring making homemade sushi, hunting down new-old home pieces on Facebook Marketplace (Seriously, that place is a treasure trove of hidden gems!), having a social distanced paint + sip night with a few friends, going for coastal drives

How are you planning to make the most of the end of summer?
