The $5 Secret to A Perfect DIY Holiday Wreath

I'll be the first to say it, some DIY projects are easier than others (Pinterest fails anyone?!). And some DIY projects are easier with a little extra help. I'm looking at you holiday wreath. I mean, seriously, have you ever tried to create a wreath completely and entirely from scratch? It never fails to be a fail (at least for me). Enter the $5 secret to a perfect DIY holiday wreath- a grapevine wreath (I bought this one at Michael's, however, there's also this one available online for $6.). Ok, maybe that's not quite a secret. But it IS how I make a perfect DIY holiday wreath year in and year out. It's a trick I learned from my Mom (who maybe learned it from Martha Stewart?!), and just like my Mom passed along the trick to me, I wanted to pass it along to you.

Once you have your grapevine wreath base, the rest is all easy breezy. You snip a few tree trimmings (Ya know, the extra branches from your tree, or snagged for free at the tree farm), you tuck them into the vines (like I'm demonstrating in the photos below), you add a few accent pieces (think berries, dried flowers, cotton, eucalyptus, pine cones, ornaments, lights, etc...I prefer a neutral, natural holiday wreath so I stuck to eucalyptus and some small berry/flower buds), tie it all in a bow, er, uh, you know, add a ribbon (if you wish) and voila, 30 minutes, $5 and maybe some wild foraging (at your local Trader Joe's flower section) later, you've got a wreath hanging on your door.

DO YOU LIKE TO MAKE YOUR OWN HOLIDAY WREATH, OR DO LEAVE IT TO THE "EXPERTS" AND BUY A READY MADE ONE AT THE STORE?
