MONTH AHEAD // OCTOBER ’23

A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT'S COMING UP THIS MONTH

EDITOR’S NOTE //

And just like that we’re officially in the fourth and final quarter of the year. You can’t see it, but I’m definitely having a minor (ok, major) freak out. I feel like time is flying faster than a car at the Indy 500. I mean, didn’t I just write September’s Month Ahead post like, yesterday?! And now here we are somehow already in October. Please for the love of God figure someone figure out how to slow down time.

At least it’s finally starting to feel more like fall. There’s a bit of a chill in the air, it’s cool enough for me to wear a sweater…sometimes, the apples are crisp, the soup and chili cooking is in full swing. All’s that’s missing is the fall foliage. And my last shred of sanity as I descend into the chaos that is the holiday season and final few months of the year. I’m only sort of kidding…For better or worse, it seems that a lot of us are feeling the chaos of the last quarter of the year, like it’s starting earlier and it feels stronger, no? Or is that just me?

Here’s to finding moments of calm in the midst of the chaos, slowing down and savoring the season and remembering that we gain nothing from stressing. Happy October! x

HAPPENINGS //

WHAT I’M PINNING //

Feeling fall via my OCTOBER INSPO BOARD

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED //

Honored by a few fun features lately…

-answered some questions on food, travel, my favorite sustainable brands and more in an interview (where I may or may not get a bit too vulnerable) over on my favorite site for all things sustainable, SISTAIN

-launched a curated collection of my favorite SISTAIN items

-contributed tips, trips and a few photos for holiday table decor ideas over on Elle Decor

WHAT I’M COOKING //

I got my first round of fall things- squash, pumpkin, apples- last week and I’ve basically become unhinged since then making all the fall things. Fall salads, roasted squash, pumpkin bread, squash soup…you get the idea! I’ve also recently rekindled my love for Japanese sweet potatoes and can’t stop making and eating those with everything, which I feel pretty good about considering that 60%+ of the diet in the blue zone in Japan is made up of these sweet potatoes.

WHAT I’M WEARING //

It’s sweater weather so you know what that means. I’m pulling out all my favorite Jenni Kayne knits! Right now, I can’t get enough of this one.

WHAT I’M LOVING //

Chocolate brown Adidas, these fun earrings, honey nut squash, this incense for cozy vibes every morning, Merit foundation sticks, this Frenchie in London cooking account on Instagram (I want to make everything she is making!), this beautiful brown nail polish that dries in a flash (no really, it does!) and my curated collection of favorite sustainable items over on SISTAIN

WHAT I’M EYEING //

This chic chocolatey shoulder bag, these jeans, this pan

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO //

I’ve been rotating between the autumn acoustic playlist and jazz for autumn playlist for the perfect cozy and chill vibes all day long.

WHAT I’M WATCHING //

“Gilmore Girls” from the beginning and “When Harry Met Sally” on repeat…’tis the season after all! We also watched “Love at First Sight” the other night and it was a cute little rom com if you’re looking for something new and lighter to watch on Netflix.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON //

Today is the start of the 4th quarter aka the busiest time of year for me, which means I’ll be working on holiday related things from basically now until forever. j/k j/k Just the end of the year, but it feels like forever when you’re in the thick of it. And when I’m not drowning in holiday things, I’ll be working on prepping some things to hopefully launch in the first quarter of next year.

WORDS TO LIVE BY //

You don’t gain anything from stressing. Remember that.
