May 2019 Reading List

WHAT TO READ THIS MONTH, BOOKS I’VE PICKED UP RECENTLY AND MY THOUGHTS ON THEM + WHAT I’M DIVING INTO NEXT// WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING, COOKING FROM OR BROWSING THROUGH FOR INSPO?

THE SUMMER WIVES //

I absolutely loved this book! By far, one of the better books I’ve picked up as I’ve late, and you know how I know that? Because I couldn’t put it down! The story takes place on an exclusive island (somewhat based on the real-life Fisher Island) and follows the stories of two main girls and how their lives are affected by love, but even more, by the money, class and secrets of the island.

It’s a longer book, but despite the amount of pages, the story is never dull, and is full of surprises throughout. In fact, when you finish the book, you’ll kind of wish that it wasn’t actually the end.

LIFE IS A PARTY //

Ok, I might have a bit of an unfair advantage when it comes to this book because we were lucky enough to attend the launch party here in LA. But, if the food and fun in the book is anything like the launch party was, then you don’t want to miss out.

This book does a great job of presenting parties in easy-to-implement road maps by laying out a theme along with a menu, simple recipes and additional tips (like playlists tunes, decor suggestions or how to get guests involved). I especially love how everything in the book feels really approachable and not out-of-reach Pinterest-y (if you know what I mean). If you’re someone who loves to entertain, but you aren’t so good at planning menus, picking recipes, coordinating details or you just like to keep things simple and easy, this book is for you.

Up Next: I really still need to pick up Influencer from my list two months ago, but I’ve also started reading The Third Hotel and I’ve got The Hopefuls checked out from the library, as well. Additionally, I’d love to browse the new cookbook from Republique as well as Piatti.
