March 2019 Reading List

WHAT TO READ THIS MONTH, BOOKS I’VE PICKED UP RECENTLY AND MY THOUGHTS ON THEM + WHAT I’M DIVING INTO NEXT// WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING, COOKING FROM OR BROWSING THROUGH FOR INSPO?

THE PRODUCTIVITY PROJECT //

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Chris Bailey presents the information in a pretty straightforward, easy-to-digest manner, with a touch of humor (aka just how I like it). I also really like that there are challenges to make you stop, think about and really work through and apply the material covered, instead of just breezing right along to the next chapter. Additionally, I found it super helpful that each chapter and challenge lists an estimated time required (spoiler alert: they’re short enough to get through during breakfast or lunch, or a midday break). As for it actually making me more productive, I think I still need a bit more time to apply the processes and let new systems/adjustments settle into place before I’ll fully be able to tell. But here’s hoping…

The year of magical thinking //

Surprisingly, I’ve never read one of Joan Didion’s books. This is my very first, so, naturally, I selected the one that’s the most difficult. Without giving away too much detail, this book grapples with tough topics like death, illness, losing loved ones and learning to come to terms with the inevitable changes of life, changes which we sometimes have no control over. It’s a powerful and emotional read, and while it may have been my first of this author’s books, it certainly won’t be my last.

Up Next: I’m a tad behind on last month’s reading list, so I’m still working my way through Goodbye to All That and browsing Tartine, but I’m also picking up Influencer, after hearing the author, Brittany Hennessy, drop some serious knowledge on a recent episode of The Influencer Podcast, as well as The Summer Wives.
