11 Holiday Things to Do in NYC

11 holiday things to do in nyc

Outside of fall, the holidays are my favorite time in the city.

Festive feels are ever-present, the decorations are on-point and there’s a buzz in the air unlike anywhere else. It truly is magical. Of course, as one would expect, the list of holiday things to do in NYC is never-ending. However, there are some holiday happenings that stand out above the rest, my favorites that I try my hardest to never miss, season after season. Whether you live in the city, or you’re just visiting, it’s definitely worth checking a few {or all} of these holiday activities out.

  1. Wander through Bryant Park Winter Village {Pro tip- get the hot chocolate!}

  2. See the Tree at Rockefeller Center {a classic, but just be prepared as it’s always crowded}

  3. Go Skating in Central Park {and for a less touristy skating experience go to Prospect park}

  4. Grab a Cocktail at a Cozy Bar {The Marlton, Lodlow and Bowery Hotel have great fire place situations in their lobby bars, but for something more low-key I like Shelter, Black Mountain Wine House or Clover Club}

  5. See the Store Windows {the classics on 5th ave are not to be missed, but I also love the cozy storefronts in the West Village}

  6. Catch a Performance of The Nutcracker {tbh I always preferred the one performed by the Brooklyn Ballet}

  7. Check out Dyker Heights Lights {an absolute must…bring hot chocolate and go early to snag parking!}

  8. Get a Panettone on Arthur Ave {aka NYC’s real Little Italy, in the Bronx}

  9. Visit the Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Gardens

  10. Catch a Rockettes Show

  11. See the Trees and Decorations at Hotels {The Plaza and Lotte Palace have some of my favorites}
