Do you guys know those color tests? The ones that help you determine which colors look best on you and which don't. Have you ever done one? I did one a long time ago and, for the life of me, I can't remember what colors it said "looked best" on me. Honestly, though, I really tend to be much more in the camp of, if you like it and it makes you feel good, then screw what color it is, just wear it. That being said, I'll never forget the colors it said didn't "look the best" on me. Ever since, I've avoided them like the plague. I really never wore the fall colors it told me to avoid, anyways, but one shade I did actually like was olive green. I reluctantly gave it up when I realized, upon closer inspection of photos of myself wearing the color, that it really didn't actually suit me. So I eliminated the color from my closet and went about my life...

And then I discovered this dress. It was so luxuriously soft and so insanely comfortable. It fit like a dream and I saw the potential for it to easily be dressed up or down. Plus, who am I to say no to a maxi dress?! Except for when it comes in olive green. After an internal debate that lasted far too long for something so trivial, I brought the dress home. And I'm so glad I did. I realized this particular olive green had more blue-ish undertones than yellow undertones, meaning it didn't wash me out the way other olive greens have in the past. Paired with the right accessories (Hello, denim jacket and pink slides!) it down played my arch nemesis color even more, suddenly making my foe a friend. And just like that, I'm reminded of the thought I've always had about clothing- if you like it, and it makes you feel good, screw the color test and just wear the darn clothes!

What do you guys think? Have you done the color test? If you have, do you stick to your best colors, or do you say screw it and wear what makes you feel good?
